Gemology Tools Professional shows all gems listed in the Gemstone Database when you select a stone for weight estimation in the Colored Stone Weight Estimator.
To start the Colored Stone Weight Estimator, click with the mouse on the 2nd scale icon on the left side of the Speed Button bar (see red arrow in image below). Click on the Select Stone dialog box. Select the stone variety by typing the first two or three letters of your target stone. If necessary, arrow down to the correct gem and press Enter. Select the Shape of the stone from the Shape list box. Press the first letter of the shape. If the right shape didn't appear press the same letter again.

Tip: You want to estimate the weight of an emerald cut Amethyst. In the Select Stone field, type the letters ame and you are taken to Amethyst. Typing the first 2 or 3 letters of the variety you want will get there (or very close). Hit [Enter] to move to the Shape field. Press e and the first stone that is highlighted is Emerald Cut. Repeatedly pressing the first letter of the shape you want will bring it up quickly as it cycles through all shapes that start with that letter.
Data input is simple and quick. Enter your measurements in millimeters and press Enter after each field. When finished press F2 or hit the Weight button.

Girdle Thickness: On those rare occasions when the default selections just won't do (such as when you have a girdle that is Extreme Extremely Thick) you can select the User Defined option. This will give you the opportunity to select your own girdle thickness percentage and assign a thickness description.
Bulge Factor: For Bulge Factor you can select None (0%), Slight (+5%), Moderate (+12%), Large (+20%) or Extreme (+30%). If you wish to use a different percentage click on User Defined. A box will pop up. Enter your percentage as a whole number. Example: to enter 35% you would enter 35. Press Enter. Note that this will increase the formula by 35%.
Fill in the Length, Width, and Depth boxes and make the necessary changes to the Girdle Thickness and Bulge Factor boxes.
Corrections: Enter an integer in this field for the Weight Correction Factors (WCF). If you want to add 5% to the estimation enter 5. If you want to subtract 5% from the estimation enter -5. In the example below we enter -5 because our emerald cut Tourmaline had very wide corners.
Press F2 or click the Weight button to call the Output screen. This will display the results.

If you want to print a list of weight estimations you must manually enter each one. This is done by pressing the Insert button on the Output Screen. If the Print List is empty the View and Print buttons on the Output Screen will be disabled. Once you Insert an estimation into the Print List you can look at it by pressing the View button. You can print from the Output Screen by pressing the Print button.
PRINTING: If you want to print a report click the Print button. If you want to add a header to print on every report select File and then Print Header. If you don't want a header but your pages are printing too high (overwriting your existing letterhead) then increase the number in the Blank Lines box of the Print Header menu and click the Clear button.
