The Gemstone Database has extensive information on over 500 gems in the database and provides information on over 1950 gems via the Find Button.

TIP: To move through the Gemstone Database (search for a gem) press the first letter of the gem. This will take you to the first gem starting with that letter. If no gem starts with that letter nothing will happen.

To open the Gemstone Database: Click the mouse on the books icon at the far left of the Speed Bar. This opens the Main Screen of the Gemstone Database. You will see the main gemstone database which shows the variety, RI, optic character, SG, Crystal System, Hardness and Species/Group. You can use the right arrow key to move down the list for more information. For a more condensed view of information about the gem you have highlighted, press Enter. This displays the Data Page. From the data page you can access a photo (or photos) of the gem (if present). If there isn't a picture the Photo button will be disabled (grayed out).

Below is an image of the Speed Bar. To open the Gemstone Database click on the "books" icon on the far left.

 

Below is an image of the bottom of the Gemstone Database page. Click on the Gemstone Data button to go to the data page for the gemstone you have highlighted (in this case Blue Topaz) or double click on the gem. To see a Photo of the gemstone you have highlighted (in this case Blue Topaz) click on the Photo button. You can also open the Gemstone Separator, the Inclusion Gallery or the Find Feature.
